The story...

Mandy and I's story begins on a blustery spring day in 1952 where I was working as a tenant farmer at Mandy's Father's Asparagus Farm.

Okay, not really. Our story actually begins at two different places. We had a class together my first semester (Intro to Sociology). However, as I did not attend class that much and slept when I was there; I do not remember Mandy being there. I did make an A, however. Mandy remembers me in that class and remembers others that I remember in that class, so clearly she is right here.

Now when we really me was in the Fall of 2002. I was looking for an on campus job as I had moved into the Baptist Campus Ministries and needed some additional funds. Our Campus Minister, David Sumner, knew Mandy and took me over to her work at the Housing and Residence Life Office to see if they were hiring. I remember thinking when I met her: "Dang, that girl is pretty hot."

A few weeks later, I learned through my roommate that Mandy and her current boyfriend had broken up. Being the sensitive person that I am, I gave her some space to kind of figure things out. By giving her some space, I mean that I started talking with her about 2 weeks later on a BCM trip to Dalton, GA. During that trip, we decided that we would take it slow and begin to get to know each other without any huge commitment.

For the next 9 months, we decided that we would not touch each other so that we could get to know each other without the distraction of the physical element. It really made no sense to anyone and at times still doesn't make sense to us. We also signed up to travel for summer missions that year, which left Mandy in Wales for 2 months and me travelling around Alabama for 6 weeks. We prayed and felt complete confidence that if God would lead us through that summer apart from one another.

As you can probably guess, we made it through the summer and here we are!
