Jeff and I have decided to observe lent this year. As a baptist it isn't something I was taught growing up. However, this year our church is following the liturgical calendar and this week our Pastor preached on lent and how we should try to give up something we feel like we can't go through the day without.
Both Jeff and I are giving up things we feel like the Lord has asked us to give up. Those things are personal to us and I will not be writing about that on the blog.
We are also giving up meat as a part of Lent. Why meat you ask? Well, mainly because I don't like to get vegetables. When I cook dinner our vegetable is usually potatoes. It's not so good to only eat meat and potatoes all the time. Jeff is wonderful, he will eat whatever I make for him, though he would like to eat more veggies. So we have decided to try new meals without meat for lent and I am hoping this will encourage us to make veggies a staple in our journal to a healther lifestyle.
I do want to note that my son LOVES all kinds of vegetables and Jeff and I make sure he eats them everyday. So yes I cook vegetables for him but I don't eat them. I have also started making Savell food and so far she also loves vegetables.
I plan to blog everyday during lent and tell you what we are eating and I will try and post pictures of the food so you can see what a meatless meal looks like.
