Mandy Home, Ollie Coming Tomorrow

Well, we don't know anything definite yet. The GI doc at Baptist thinks Mandy caught a bad case of the stomach bug. Mandy has a follow up visit at the GI clinic next week. Please pray that they get to the bottom of all of this mess. Mandy has been struggling with these issues since about Thanksgiving.

Ollie is having his ups and downs, but overall he is getting better. He has had some trouble vomiting, so pray for his continued healing. The RSV has made his breathing labored and he just doesn't have the same personality. We are getting him back tomorrow morning.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

Update on Mandy and Ollie

Hello Everyone,

Mandy is no longer vomiting or suffering from diarrhea but she still is experiencing some pretty significant pain in her stomach. We met with the GI today and she wanted for Mandy to stay another night and see how she is in the morning.

Ollie is doing better. The antibiotics appear to be working on his ear infection as Mandy's mom was able to get his fever to break and he is in good spirits.

Thank you very much for your thoughts and prayers. We should be going home tomorrow.

Jeff

Mandy and Ollie

Hello Everyone,

This is Jeff, Mandy's husband. I am writing this post from my Mom's office at Baptist Hospital. Mandy has been admitted with some pretty serious stomach issues, though we are not sure yet of the cause. The doctor's here are consulting a Gastro doctor and there will be a series of tests run. Mandy is resting with some good medicine after a really rough night. I hope to post more as more information becomes available.

Ollie has contracted RSV again. This is the virus that put him in the hospital last march. He is older now and we hope that he will fight this virus a little better this time around. As you probably know, there is nothing doctor's can do for a virus but to let it pass. He has two ear infections as well, which are treatable with antibiotics. He is staying with Mandy's parents.

I'm doing well, just a little overwhelmed and exhausted. Please pray for our family.

Thanks,

Jeff

San Diego

Jeff and I went to San Diego this past week. He was working and I went along. It was a bitter sweet trip. It was a great time to spend with Jeff away from everyday life, and San Diego is an extremely fun city. But leaving Ollie for 6 days was much harder than I thought it would be. I left him in very good hand, but I missed him so much. I really tried to have fun, but I just keep thinking Ollie would love this! Needless to say I will not be leaving him for that long again for a while!!!
first day we got there, this is Old town.
Jeff and I went out on my Birthday to the downtown area in San Diego, call GasLamp district. It is a really neat area of town. This the the view from where we ate dinner.
The place we ate you cook your own meat, we thought it would be fun to try!

Nice view in Seaport Village.
Eating outside in La Jolla, did you know they don't have bugs!!!

Beautiful Trees in La Jolla
Jeff and I in front of LPL, it is the home company of Legacy Advisors, Inc. Where I use to work, I had to see what it looked like. I used to talk to these people everyday.
Seals laying on the beach!

We went to the San Diego Zoo and it is everything people say it is. It is so pretty, and interesting. If you are ever in San Diego you MUST go there.

Bibs 4 Sale

My Friend is making these bibs and they are so great! You must have one. They are only $12. The bib covers all of your child's clothes so they don't get food all over themselves. It also wipes off easy. If you have a toddler it could also be used as a painting apron it even has pockets. Great baby shower gift or Christmas gift. Let me know if you are interested!!

Hospitals are So Fun!

Ollie and I started our Friday off like we always do and around lunch time I noticed he was a little warm. I took his temp and it was 99.9 not to bad I could see 2 teeth trying to come through so I gave him so Tylenol and put him down for a nap. He had a pretty fitful nap. When he got up his fever was 101 I called the doctor and they said it was probably b/c he got the flu shot the day before and with teething he was running a fever, but if it got worse to come in the office in the morning.
Jeff's parents came over to watch Ollie while Jeff and I went to dinner. When we got home Ollie was still awake and I took his temp and it was 103.7 He was also wheezing really bad. I called the doctor and they said we needed to go to the ER!
We got to the ER and they got him back really quickly. They said he had a double ear infection, his fever was now 104.1 and they wanted to do a chest x-ray. His chest x-ray came back clear! (thank goodness) The nurse then came in to give Ollie an IV of fluids and Antibiotics. He first tried to put the IV in Ollie's hand that didn't work so he moved to his arm. Jeff was holding Ollie down and I was sitting behind the nurse so I couldn't see what was going on. Jeff looked at me with this face like O CRAP! The nurse hit a vain and blood went everywhere. I am so glad I wasn't sitting there b/c I might have hit the man! Ollie was of course crying like crazy. The nurse finally got the IV in and we started the drugs.
About 2 hours later Ollie's fever was down to 99.9 again and they were letting us go home! 1 hour later we got to leave, we got back home around 4am. Jeff and I haven't been up all night in a very long time. Thankfully Ollie slept till almost 11am.
Ollie is feeling much better today! Maybe we can stay out of the hospital for a while!!
